Care for Park Trees

NATURAL AREAS STEWARDSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Stewardship Team recruits, trains, and supports volunteers for a variety of ecological projects across the city, supporting MillionTreesNYC reforestation efforts.

Register Your Tree

MillionTreesNYC is looking for dedicated volunteers to help weed and monitor new tree plantings. Volunteer stewards will be trained in invasive weed identification and removal techniques. Stewards must attend 3 training sessions and commit to volunteer 12 hours over the summer in weeding reforestation sites. New Reforestation Stewardship volunteers will need to attend one indoor and two indoor sessions.

REFORESTATION STEWARDSHIP

Stewardship of natural areas, helping newly planted trees to grow into healthy forests, is an essential part of MillionTreesNYC.

Reforestation Stewards

Volunteer stewards help ensure that invasive weeds do not overwhelm the new plantings and monitor young reforestation trees as they mature. Volunteers are trained in natural areas stewardship, invasive weed identification, and proper management techniques. Stewards must attend 3 training sessions and commit to volunteer 12 hours over the summer.
