Join us in making New York a greener, greater city through our local lead partners!
On Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009 we celebrated the collaboration of our lead partners in developing the MillionTreesNYC Stewardship Corps with a Roundtable event at City Hall. Attending were representatives from Trees New York, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Queens Botanical Garden, New York Botanical Garden, Greenbelt Conservancy, and GreenThumb. Each of these partners will work with MillionTreesNYC to promote tree stewardship and offer tree care workshops to thousands of New Yorkers in specific boroughs of concentration: Trees New York in Manhattan, Brooklyn Botanic Garden in Brooklyn, Queens Botanical Garden in Queens, New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, Greenbelt Conservancy in Staten Island, and GreenThumb will engage its network of community gardeners throughout the city.
The Roundtable event culminated in a spirited discussion of best outreach and stewardship techniques and the best ways to offer continued support to tree stewards. With resources and expertise gained through decades of combined experience in ecology, environmental education, and community engagement, the MillionTreesNYC Stewardship Corps is fully ready to provide individuals and communities with the skills and tools necessary to create a greener, greater New York!
