Every planting season, MillionTreesNYC engages enthusiastic, energetic, and environmentally–minded New Yorkers in volunteer tree planting activities.
Fall Reforestation Planting Day
Our next volunteer reforestation planting event will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 with additional plantings on Sunday, October 23, 2011 and Wednesday, October 26, 2011.
Join the MillionTreesNYC training program and GreenApple Corps to volunteer in your neighborhood and make an environmental impact! We will be hosting small-scale planting events in community parks in on October 25, November 12, and November 19.
On Saturday, April 30, volunteers helped plant more than 20,000 trees at parks across the city! Scroll down to view photos from the event and from past plantings. Special thanks to RCano Events and Green Apple Cleaners for their generous support.
And don’t forget that planting is only the first step in keeping our urban forests healthy and strong. For information about participating in tree care for reforested areas or street trees, visit our Stew Corps or community calendar pages.
We’ve received some great photos and feedback from people who participated in past events!

“It was a rich experience to work with others to improve the environment and quality of life in the city. What made it equally special for me was the chance to work alongside my teenage son and my girlfriend’s teenage daughter…[the] kids have known each other all of their lives, and that’s why it’s great that they are now taking part in an activity that has such a positive long-term affect on their future and the planet.” Paula, via Visiting Nurse Service of New York blog
